Hi! Welcome to my page! I know I don't have much yet, this is just a work in progress. for my project, I am doing a hands on batik. For those of you that do not know what a batik is; Batik is a fabric dyeing technique originating in Indonesia, which uses wax resist molds to create designs. The wax is poured on a fabric, typically cotton, and allowed to harden in the shape of the desired design. The cloth is then dyed and the wax is then removed, with the remaining design in the original cloth color. This process can be repeated for intricate design work, and the characteristic veined look of Batik is achieved when some dye leaks through cracks in the wax. In order to get the design that I would like, I have looked at, and researched Impressionism which is a form of art that was very popular during the 18-1900s era in Russia and France. In the late 19th century French painters painted pictures and appearances by using strokes of unmixed colors to give the impression of reflected light. The impressionist era mostly consists of paintings of nature and the artists surroundings. With my project I will be studing both batik and impressionism and taking what i learned, and letting it impact the way
